Cornwall to Exeter by Motorcycle...

Cornwall to Exeter - Route 1

Starting Point - St Ives, Cornwall

  1. Head out of Carbis Bay and head towards the A30 Redruth.
  2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A3075 heading to Perranporth / Newquay.
  3. Cruise past Fistral bay and check out the local surfers, and then why not stop in Newquay and have a coffee at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant at Watergate bay overlooking the sea.
  4. From Newquay take the A3059 and head back towards the A39 Atlantic highway.
  5. Take the Atlantic Highway to Padstow and turn down the A389 and stop in at Rick Stein's fish and chip shop for lunch over looking the harbour and across to Rock.??6. Head back to the A39 and head north towards Camelford. A chance here on the way to visit the Castle of King Arthur at Tintagel, if you fancy a small walk.
  6. Head back on the Atlantic Highway and go in to Bude, pop on the sea front for an ice cream before continuing on the very picturesque A3072. On the way you will pass through Holsworthy, Hatherleigh, Jacobstowe, Bow, Copplestone and Crediton before entering Exeter.

Cornwall to Exeter - Route 2

Starting Point - Falmouth, Cornwall

  1. Leave this great natural harbour and yachting capital and head out on the A39 towards Perranworthal taking a right when entering Playing Place.
    This will take you down pass Trelissick gardens owned by the national trust where views to the sea and surrounding area's are just breathtaking.
  2. Carry on down the B3289 to Ruan High Lanes, and then on to A3078 heading towards Probus. Stop off and have a look at the highest Church in Cornwall at 125'10".
    Head out on to the A390 towards St Austell. Here's your chance to see the Eden project set in amazing surroundings with its awesome biomes.
  3. From Eden Project take the A38 and ride towards Dobwalls and Liskeard.
  4. Keep on the A38 until you see the signpost towards Torpoint where you can take a ferry across to the historic city of Plymouth.
  5. Once over the ferry head towards the Barbican where you can eat at one of the many restaurants by the sea, take a walk on the Hoe, check out the aquarium or you can even buy some Plymouth Rum.
  6. Take the A379 out of Plymouth and head along to Dartmouth for a cream team and a spot of shopping around the boutique shop, art galleries and colourful staffs.
  7. Catch the Dartmouth ferry across and head towards Torbay on the B3199, and then on to the A3022.
  8. Pass through Torbay pass the Princess Theatre and the main town and head out on the A3022 and then on to the A380 and on to Newton Abbot.
  9. From here you can either take the direct route to Exeter on the dual carriageway, or if you want a real treat carry on the A382 and ride to Moretonhampstead in the Dartmoor National Park.
  10. From here you are just a few miles to Bridge between the tree's and a spectacular views across the fields.
