Dorset to Exeter by Motorcycle...
Dorset to Exeter - Route 1
Starting Point - Bournemouth Pier, Dorset
- After a spot of breakfast at Bournemouth's Pier, head towards Dorchester on the A35, Until signposted Wareham and then join the A351 costal road for some real fun.
- Follow this road until you pick up the A352 and then ride in to Weymouth, from here you can visit Portland and the amazing Portland Bill lighthouse, which sits on the edge of the sea.
- From here the road just gets better. Join the B3167 and ride along Chesil beach's cliffs, the view will amaze you.
- Take this road all the way to Lyme Regis where the local fish and chips are worth a stop. Pop in to one of the local shops for some goodies, or pop down to the harbour and check out the yachts and powerboats.
- Ride out on the A3502 but try and swing across to Ottery St Mary where once a year the Tar barrels come out on November 5th.
- From here drop back on to the A30 and cruise back in to Exeter and down to Bridge, where a well deserved coffee awaits!
Dorset to Exeter - Route 2
Starting Point - Dorchester, Dorset
- Set off from Dorchester after an early morning coffee or tea and head out on the A35 towards Bridport. Drop off on the B3157 and stop off at West Bay to catch a view of the sea along this part of the Jurassic Coast.
- From West Bay ride up on the A35 to Axminster where you can drop in to local store River Cottage created by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for some special treats.
- From here head out on the A35 towards Honiton and then on towards Gittisham on the A375 and a visit to Combe House for an extra special lunch.
- Once full you can head out back to the A30 towards Exeter, and then drop off to Broadclyst and an afternoon visit at Killerton House owned by the National Trust which has amazing gardens and views of Devon.
- Come out of Gittisham on the old Honiton Road to enjoy a gentle paced ride back in to Exeter and pass the Met office head quarters.
- Run down the inner bypass and you should sight a glimpse of the Exeter Chiefs Rugby ground.
- Pass down over the swing bridge and the Exeter Canal and on to Bridge Motorcycles.
