ADVENTURE SPORTS DESIGN
The Africa Twin Adventure Sports is the perfect package for the long haul. Engineered for comfort as well as performance the front fairing protects while the height-adjustable screen lets you tailor airflow. The 24.8L fuel tank gives greater autonomy, while the large engine skid-plate plate and premium aluminium panels protect the machine.
MORE POWERFUL 1100CC ENGINE
When you’re loaded, with passenger and luggage, you need an engine that responds strongly to every input, especially for passing. So we’ve tuned an extra 5Kw/5Nm of peak power and torque into the parallel twin-cylinder powerplant and lifted performance throughout the rev-range. A new cylinder head, throttle body and ECU deliver precise throttle control.
BORN IN THE DESERT. READY FOR ANYWHERE
It’s time. Time to soar. To be truly free and feel your tyres bite into dirt, seeking the grip and escape you need. The motorcycle beneath you is a tool, your tool. And you ride together as one. This is Africa Twin. Forged through the furnace of countless kilometres. For the ride of a lifetime.
PURE OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE
The Africa Twin is designed to push limits. Sharp and agile handling in the dirt – whether storming a high-speed gravel trail or trickling up a rocky climb – is thanks to a lightweight main frame and CRF450R-style aluminium swingarm matched to long-travel Showa 45mm inverted front fork and remote reservoir rear shock.
CBR1000RR R Fireblade
From a clean sheet, Honda and HRC’s development engineers set to work creating a new inline four-cylinder engine for the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. It’s a compact, short-stroke layout – sharing the bore and stroke of the RC213V – and features a semi-cam gear train, finger-follower rocker arms, titanium con-rods, RC213V-S internal friction reduction technologies, piston jets with check ball system and a built-in bottom bypass passage for the cylinder water jacket.
A ram-air duct in the front fairing feeds through the headstock directly into the airbox. The 4-2-1 exhaust downpipes are ovalized and the end-can has been developed in conjunction with Akrapovic.
The result? The CBR1000RR-R engine delivers 113Nm @ 12,500rpm and makes peak power of 160Kw @ 14,500rpm.
Second-generation semi-active Öhlins Electronic Control (S-EC)
The Öhlins NPX fork uses a pressurised damping system to minimise cavitation, resulting in more stable damping control and improved bump absorption at high speeds. Feel for front tyre grip is also enhanced. The rear shock is also by Öhlins; the upper mount attaches at the back of the engine to enhance high-speed handling.
Brembo Stylema front brake calipers
Incredible braking power is provided by the latest Brembo Stylema monobloc four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers – with Brembo brake lever and master cylinder to match. The calipers maintain rigidity but are 7% lighter, with less internal fluid volume for more immediate reaction.
RC213V-S-inspired swingarm design
The aluminium swingarm – based on the designed used by the RC213V-S – is 30.5mm longer, at 622.7mm but weighs exactly the same as the previous design. Its horizontal rigidity is reduced by 15%, with vertical rigidity maintained to generate incredible rear tyre grip – and feel to go with it.
Launch control for fast starts
The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is equipped with Launch Control for race starts. It limits engine rpm at 6,000, 7,000, 8,000 and 9,000rpm set-points, even with a wide-open throttle, letting you focus on clutch release (and lights) alone. A quickshifter is also fitted as standard, with performance optimised for racetrack performance and reliability.

It’s design also means an agile and stable adventure bike, which can cover motorway miles with ease while also comfortably negotiating twisty mountain passes and hairpin bends.
