Local Routes

This route is a cocktail of fast and open sweepers with some tighter and more technical sections and more than just a few fantastic views of the Devonshire countryside. Allowing an hour and a half to two hours to complete it with a coffee stop, this route starts and finishes at Bridge and will see you covering about 43 miles in total.

Heading out from Bridge, you’ll want to find the large roundabout that connects you to the A30 before bypassing it for the road that runs alongside it, signposted towards Ide and Dunsford. At Pocombe Bridge, turn right towards Tedburn St. Mary, where the road opens up to some decent sweepers and fast straights. These continue as you pass through Cheriton Bishop and through Crockernwell, criss-crossing over the A30 and meeting some brilliant views as you skirt along Dartmoor.

Fill up at the Whiddon Down service station if needed, before turning onto the A3124 for some tighter and more technical twisties. It’s a brilliant stretch of road, but be wary of slow-moving farm traffic and mud on the roads if the weather’s been bad.

Reaching a junction at the end, turn onto the A3072 for some more fast sweepers before joining up with the A377 at Copplestone, following the road through Crediton and back into Exeter, go in early afternoon to miss the extra rush-hour traffic.

Follow the A377 through the City before taking a left after the Sainsbury’s petrol station to find yourself back at Bridge for a spot of tea at Café 53.
