There are some motorcycles that simply look right.
The proportions, the stance, the sound, the details — they create an instant connection to motorcycling's golden age. And few names carry that heritage quite like Bonneville.
Now, Triumph is bringing that unmistakable Bonneville experience to a whole new generation of riders with the introduction of the new Bonneville T40 and Bonneville T40 Black.
And we’re incredibly excited to welcome them to Bridge Motorcycles.
The T40 isn't simply a smaller Bonneville.
Triumph set out to create a motorcycle that captures the style, character and sense of occasion of a genuine Bonneville, while combining it with the accessibility, technology and everyday usability today's riders expect.
The result is a beautifully proportioned 400cc motorcycle that feels unmistakably Triumph from the moment you see it.
Think sculpted teardrop tank. Classic round headlight. Spoked wheels. Twin rear shocks. Long mudguards. A peashooter silencer. Brushed aluminium engine covers.
It's a Bonneville through and through.
And then you notice the details.
The Bonneville T40 draws heavily from the iconic Bonneville designs of the 1960s, but Triumph has cleverly hidden some seriously sophisticated technology beneath that timeless exterior.
The result is a motorcycle that looks wonderfully traditional without feeling old-fashioned.
A new 4-inch full-colour circular TFT display provides a huge range of functionality, including:
Full smartphone connectivity
Integrated Triumph Navigation
Phone and music controls
Customisable widgets
Gear position, fuel level and ambient temperature information
Heritage Mode with an analogue-inspired display
USB-C charging
And that's only the beginning.
The T40 also features five riding modes, cruise control, lean-sensitive Optimised Cornering ABS and Optimised Cornering Traction Control.
So while it may look like it has ridden straight out of a 1960s photograph, the technology underneath is thoroughly modern.
At the heart of the T40 is Triumph's latest-generation 400cc TR Series single-cylinder engine, specially tuned for the Bonneville.
With 32 PS at 7,000 rpm and 36 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, the emphasis is on strong, accessible performance and plenty of low-down character.
And then there's the sound.
The dedicated Bonneville tune, clear single-cylinder firing pulses and peashooter silencer combine to give the T40 a distinctive exhaust note — exactly the kind of character you'd hope for from a motorcycle wearing the Bonneville badge.
It's also A2 licence-compliant, making that Bonneville experience accessible to an even wider
For those who love the traditional Bonneville look, the Bonneville T40 comes in three gorgeous heritage-inspired colour combinations:
Aegean Blue & Fusion White delivers a fresh, clean interpretation of classic Bonneville style.
Meriden Blue & Tangerine Orange turns up the attitude with a bolder, vibrant colour combination.
New England White & Jet Black keeps things understated, elegant and timeless.
Every colourway features deep paint finishes and hand-painted coach lining — a beautiful traditional touch that reinforces just how much attention Triumph has paid to the details.
The T40 Black takes the same unmistakable silhouette and gives it a darker, more purposeful personality.
Finished in Matt Pewter Grey and Matt Phantom Black, it features blacked-out engine casings, header and peashooter silencer, plus gloss-black aluminium rims contrasted with bright steel spokes.
It's classic Bonneville DNA with a distinctly contemporary edge.
Walk around the T40 and you'll discover that Triumph hasn't relied simply on a famous badge to create the Bonneville experience.
It's in the details. The sculpted tank. The rubber knee pads. The three-bar Triumph tank badge. The brushed engine covers. The finned cylinder head. The hand-painted coach lining. The beautifully finished exhaust.
Even the Triumph branding is subtly integrated into components including the handlebar clamp, mudguard, engine covers and lights. Modern cables and hoses are neatly routed out of sight too, preserving the clean, uncluttered profile. It's the kind of motorcycle that rewards a second look. And then a third.
Despite all that heritage, the T40 has been designed to be used.
Every day.
The comfortable bench seat provides generous padding for both rider and pillion, while a centre stand comes as standard — making everything from parking to chain maintenance that little bit easier.
Triumph's Genuine Accessories range will also include options such as low and comfort seats and classic panniers, allowing riders to tailor their T40 to suit how they ride.
And with a class-leading 10,000-mile / 16,000km service interval, the T40 is designed to spend more time on the road and less time in the workshop.
And we'll see you at Bridge Motorcycles.
The Bonneville name has been part of Triumph's story for generations.
Now the T40 brings that story to a new audience.
It's a motorcycle for riders who appreciate authentic design, but don't want to compromise on modern technology.
For riders who want the character of a single-cylinder engine, the confidence of modern rider aids and the timeless appeal of a genuine Bonneville.
And for anyone who simply wants to turn around after parking their bike and think:
"That looks fantastic." We know the feeling.
The new Triumph Bonneville T40 and T40 Black are coming to Bridge Motorcycles, and we can't wait to get them in front of you.
Pricing will be announced in early 2027, with the first motorcycles arriving in Triumph dealerships from Spring 2027.
