Bridge Motorcycles was established in 1953 by Mr J. M. Anthony. Originally situated on Okehampton Street, the business grew from humble beginnings to the largest motorcycle dealer in the South West. This family-run business has become a multi-award winning motorcycle dealership and currently holds over 200 new and used motorcycles and some of the most celebrated mechanics in Europe looking after your pride and joy.

Family at heart

Bridge takes great pride in the fact that it is a family run business, with members of the Anthony family currently holding the positions of Managing Director, Director and General Manager. With family at its heart, Bridge has become a trusted name within the motorcycling community standing for both exceptional quality and value.

Moving Forward

The business has recently gone from strength to strength seeing an expansion in all areas including: servicing, used bike sales, as well as clothing and accessories. With the successful opening of Café 53, Bridge has once again shown itself to be an active and forward thinking company. It is this forward thinking that has seen Bridge integrate technology to enable a greater overall experience for its customers.

1953

The Beginning

Bridge Motorcycles was established by Mr. J. M. Anthony, the first premises were located on Okehampton Street

1960

1966

New Ambitions

In 1966 Bridge moved from Okehampton Street to Commercial Road. This move would see the first signs of the potential and the ambition of Bridge Motorcycles, as it would be the first of many expansions to deal with the increased demand.

1971

Suzuki Flying High

Suzuki is the oldest of the Bridge franchises spanning over 45 years. Within this time Suzuki has had many successes on both the road and the track. Some of the most iconic road bike ranges including GSX-R, V-Strom, and GS.

1972

Bridge Expands

1972 was a big year of expansion for Bridge we opened a second Exeter store on New Bridge Street. This new location allowed us to add even more space to our showroom and parts department, and take on new franchises.

1979

Bridge moves to Verney Street

In 1979 Bridge moved to Verney Street, this would be the first move that Bridge made to what now can be called a conventional bike shop (abundance of parking and pre-packaged displays).

1985

Honda Enters the Building

in 1985 the Iconic Japanese brand Honda came to Bridge franchises. At this time Honda has some really great ranges many of which we still see today including the CB and Gold Wing ranges.

1989

Bridge Turns Green

The Green Machine came to Bridge in 1989. This coincided with some iconic Kawasaki machines including the ZXR series and the Zephyr 400.

1990

Triumph welcomes in the Modern Era

In 1990 Bridge received the franchise for the icon British brand Triumph. This makes Bridge Motorcycles the oldest Triumph franchise holder of the modern era. This came with some iconic models including Trident, Trophy, and Daytona

Move to Marsh Barton

1997 Saw Bridge move to Marsh Barton and receive a full re-brand. The Marsh Barton site offered lots of opportunities to grow and expand, which it subsequently did.

2000

Millennium Era

The Millennium year was a great one for one particular Bridge franchise/ Suzuki's Kenny Roberts JR lifted the premier class title on his Suzuki RGV500. 2000 also saw a fresh-face Italian join the Honda team and come second to Kenny Roberts Jr.

Enter the Doctor

This year would hold the first of seven World Championships for Valentino Rossi. This would be the first of many dominant seasons for the G.O.A.T. winning eleven of fifteen races.

Honda Expands

in 2006 Honda got its very own building and servicing workshop at Bridge.

Bike Nights

Bike Nights at Bridge Motorcycles have become a monthly staple. Drawing big names like Ron Haslam, Tommy Bridewell, Carl Fogarty and Michael Laverty

A New Era

2016 saw the biggest shake-up of the Bridge Brand, dropping the blue and yellow and embracing Grey and red. Bridge also branched out with the opening of Cafe 53. This retro-themed cafe offers hot snacks & drinks to both locals and bikers, Bridge will always look to be at the cutting edge of both motorcycles and service it was like this in 1953 and it is the same today.

Warehouse Opens

in 2019 we opened up our warehouse to the public giving you access to the 150+ pre-owned motorcycles in the South West.

Big Changes

2020 was another year of big changes with the introduction of the Dainese Pro-Store, The new Service Department, and Barber 53. We also heavily invested in a state-of-the-art service department, meaning your motorcycles are getting the very best service. Barber 35 is a collaboration between Bridge and R&G Barbershop of Crediton, offering a range of services including haircuts, face masks, and beard trims.

2021

A Facelift for Honda

2021 saw both Bridge Honda receive major upgrades.

Honda received major changes including the removal of the old Honda workshop and sales office to create a wide, open-planned space. The new space now accommodates a designated Gold Wing area as well as a Honda customer seating area.
